Higher insurance premiums for Georgia? Health insurance industry lobby weighs in on the health care reform program.

Will there be higher insurance premiums for Georgia as a result of the proposed health care reforms? Health insurance and the health care industry in the United States of America is big business. With thousands of organizations investing massive amounts in products and services it should not come as a surprise they are concerned over the proposed health care reforms.

Insurance interests assault health bill, belatedly - Washington Times

America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the industry's lobby, fired the first shot in what is expected to be an extensive campaign with a report released on the eve of the Finance Committee vote that showed new taxes in the legislation would result in higher premiums for all consumers - as much as $4,000 higher over the next decade.

The unions will be running full-page newspaper ads criticizing the bill for forgoing a government-run insurance option, whilst the health insurance lobby are running TV ads that warns seniors that cuts to the Medicare Advantage program will result in fewer benefits for them. With much of the finer detail still to be worked out and agreed upon - actions by these groups show just how much is at stake in the health care industry in Georgia and the rest of the United States.

For Georgians looking to purchase health insurance in GA it is essential now more than ever to check and compare the wide variety of health insurance options.
