Medicare gets less affordable for Georgians

Over a million Georgians are eligible for Medicare in 2010. This affordable health insurance provides medical coverage for the disabled and people aged 64 and over. Over 80% of Medicare recipients are eligible for some type of drug coverage also, through a retiree plan or Medicare (Part D).

If you qualify for Medicare in GA there are over 40 plans to select from in Georgia.

Kaiser Family Foundation reports that Medicare Part D beneficiaries can expect to reduced coverage in 2010.  60 percent of plans will charge a deductible of around $310 annually before drug coverage kicks is. This is up from 45% in 2006.

Premiums are also rising, by a forecast 11% in 2010, which equates to a $5 a week increase per month on top of higher co-payments and/or reductions in certain drug qualifications from 'preferred' to non-preferred'.
