Affordable health insurance: Is it possible to obtain?

In addition to the health insurace debate in the Senate, there is also a lot of debate across the state of Georgia over health insurance. Recently introduced Bills in Georgia are hoping to make it easier for individuals to obtain health insurance.

While I think this is a great first step, I do still have to question whether or not, individuals would still be able to afford health insurance even if it were available to buy.

Why would I make such an outrageous statement?

Well, quite simply this.

You need money to purchase health insurance. Given we are still struggling with the economy, given the recession is far from over and given a lot of people lost their jobs or have been hit with shortened hours - is there money left for health insurance?

Given downturns of the past, I know we will come out of it in the not too distant future. So in addition to the debate on health care and health insurance maybe we can also look at job creation and ensuring when employers take on more workers, they too have options to purchase health insurance at a reasonable rate.
