Free health care for those who don't have health insurance
There is a free clinic operating out of a building owned by the Tanner Health System on Highway 78 in Temple, West Georgia, an empty building that has been given new life thanks to the generosity of Georgians. That generosity relies on doctors, nurses and other people donating their time to run a clinic for those people who don't meet normal clinic qualifications and have no health insurance in Georgia.
While there is no such thing as "free" health insurance, relying on donations of money, time, equipment and the building itself, it provides one place where those who need help and who wouldn't otherwise get any, can.
However, unless there is additional donations, the clinic won't be able to help everyone given that it is currently open 1 evening per week.
Times-Georgian - New health care clinic fills tremendous need
“This, to me, when you want to talk about health care reform, is one of the models for the future. This is a classic example at the community level — not waiting for Washington, not waiting for Atlanta — this is the community, thanks to the organizers of this clinic, saying, ‘We’re going to take care of own community.’ To me, that’s the ultimate form of health care reform.”
The clinic will continue to operate as long as volunteers continue to step forward and monetary donations are received to serve the community at no cost to those recipients who meet clinic qualifications. Donations can be made to The Rapha Clinic of West Georgia, P.O. Box 1367, Temple, GA 30179.
