Is finding cheap health insurance in Georgia possible?
A recent letter caught my eye, and the facts are there. The cost of health insurance in Georgia is staggering and with health insurance companies changing policies regularly it is important we know we are getting the best deal for our hard earned money.
So what do we do? Well we have mentioned this before, but a review of your health insurance policy cover is essential. It may be a different health insurance company has a better deal you aren't aware of, but what hinders most Americans is the market. Current market place conditions means we cannot as yet purchase cheaper health insurance from a company outside of our state. And really until we do, we are at their mercy.
LETTERS: Fix health care by letting companies sell coverage across state borders
The facts surrounding the state of health insurance in America are grim: The cost of health insurance premiums has increased by 59 percent since 2000, with no accompanying increase in the scale or scope of benefits. Today, 15 percent of all Americans live without health insurance. In Washington, Republicans and Democrats are at an impasse.
The average Georgia family pays an insurance premium of $7,408. This same plan sells for $5,096 in Iowa and for $12,296 in New York. Current state laws prevent Georgians and New Yorkers the option of buying health insurance plans available in Iowa.
We wait with baited breath
