Coventry of GA makes it difficult for individuals to obtain health insurance
We had a client in reasonable good health who applied to Coventry of GA for individual health insurance a couple months ago. Coventry of GA responded by asking for medical records for the client, which is a reasonable thing to request.
The client went to the doctor's office and faxed us the medical records which we faxed to Coventry. However, Coventry of GA would not accept medical records from us, they wanted them faxed directly from the doctor's office. The client got the doctor's office to fax the medical records direct to the insurance company.
Talk about bureaucracy gone mad.
Since all this took some time, the insurance company requested a new application and a fresh physical at the client's expense before being even considered for coverage. As unreasonable this may seem, the client actually got a new physical done at his own expense and submitted a new application to the company.
Coventry of GA then tells us they want the client to re-apply after 6 months.
To say we are disappointed with the actions of Coventry of GA is an understatement. Why do insurance companies such as Coventry of GA make it SO difficult for reasonably health individuals to obtain health insurance. If someone could please enlighten me I would be grateful for your responses.
