1 in 5 Georgia residents may qualify for government-run healthcare

The Georgia Health care debate rages on, this time fuelled by fears about the cost to the state of Georgia of providing coverage.

Casey Cagle, a Republican, and lieutenant governor of Georgia has stated, in an article published in the Washington Times, that Georgia would see Medicare recipients "balloon by 45%" under the Affordable Health care for America Act currently before the Senate.

He claims that over 5 years, the cost to the state of Georgia of meeting the government-run health care program could be as much as $2.4 billion.
