Buchanan City Council renews health insurance with Humana

Health insurance hit the political table recently when Buchanan City Council debated whether or not to continue to use their existing Humana providers.

After a lengthy debate between current insurance broker Greg Yates of Metro Atlanta Financial Group and Jason Brady of Northwestern Benefits and an executive session, the council voted unanimously to continue its 100 percent coverage of major medical, drug, dental, disability and life insurance with Humana, represented by Yates.

The coverage will cost the city $8,005 per month for its 13 employees, an increase of 2.7 percent over the previous year.
