Individual Health Insurance - going it alone?
Have you ever tried to compare individual health insurance rates online? I have been in the insurance industry for more than 17 years and I can’t imagine an average consumer trying to figure out all the individual health insurance variables: different companies, policies, optional riders and ever changing prices.
Trying to figure out individual health insurance rates in GA, without professional help, is like giving your self a haircut. It may seem like a good idea, especially if you are drunk, but the results can be devastating. The problem is that all individual health plans are a little different. All health insurance companies in Georgia have different underwriting criteria and health insurance benefits can vary greatly from one individual health insurance provider in Georgia to another. If all health insurance plans offered to GA were the same, then it would be easy to find the lowest rates and simply buy health insurance online. But they are not; for example:
If you are diabetic, not all health insurance companies in Georgia will accept you on an individual health insurance basis. As a matter of fact, in certain cases, no one will accept you on an individual health insurance basis. You have to get a professional involved.
Worse, if you randomly apply online with a bunch of health insurance companies in Georgia, without proper knowledge, you may get declined multiple times. This can affect your future insurability with these and other health insurance companies.
The internet is great for initial health insurance research, but it is strongly suggested that before you make a final decision - in fact before you even check rates, you seek an experienced professional. Applying for health insurance in Georgia online, is one of those areas where trial by error is not such a good idea.
