Marietta Senator files health care amendment
Marietta GA Sen. Judson Hill has filed an amendment to the Georgia Constitution in an attempt to prevent Georgians being forced to buy government specified health insurance or penalized for not doing so.
Aimed at the Obama health care reform Bill currently in the Senate, the amendment is designed to "preserve the rights of individuals to pay directly for health care" (or health insurance).
"We have taken the first step in protecting Georgians from government-run health care and intrusive government mandates. If Congress’ proposed government option mandate becomes law, then the federal government will become a significant decision maker in Georgians’ medical care," said Sen. Hill. "This Constitutional Amendment will preserve Georgians’ right to make their own health care and health insurance choices."
State Rep. Calvin Hill (R-Canton) pre-filed the legislation in the House.
